GROWTH :)

I have learned a lot about myself since becoming a Jag. I have learned my strengths and my weakness. There are at least 3 main things that I have learned about myself.
  • As you go through life, you learn to adjust.
Since becoming a Jag, I have learned how to adjust and readjust if I have too. Mostly every job has it's pros and cons, but it is up to you to determine which direction your day is going to go in.
  • Content- A state of peaceful happiness :)
It's the little things that count. Every time I think I have it bad, someone else always has it worse.

  • Don't stress over what you can't control!
This semester has been very trying, school is trying in general. I often wanted to give up or even thought about taking a gap year, because I was so stressed out on planning how "I" want things to work out in my life, and career, but I have learned that every thing works together according to God's plan.

I am thankful I became a Jag, I learned so much about myself as well as others.

One piece of advice !

You learn something new everyday, weather you were looking forward to it or not.
Starting college is a new and different challenge.
You don't have all the answers and it seems like everyday or every other day something comes up. So, you end up worrying your significant other, parents, friends, and etc.
That is why it is always good to have a listening ear or someone who understands and will guide you on this path.
If I could back in time and give myself one piece of advice before I started my journey, it would be "Don't get to comfortable."
Life is what you make it, and however you react whenever it throws at you, will be the turnout,
As I stated above, "it seems like everyday or every other day something comes up," if you're prepared and not too comfortable you will know in a cetrain way of how to deal with things.

Stay one step ahead.

Are you ready to be a JAG ?

The end of the year is approaching and we are all aggravated and are ready to enjoy the summer, BUT you start your freshman/junior (transfer) year here at South.
It's always best to STAY prepared so you won't have to get prepared. There are many ways to prepare for South Alabama and you can get prepared in 5 simple ways.

FRESHMAN:
-Make sure your transcript has been sent.
-Make sure your FASFA has been completed and all other material for funding has been turned in.
-Make sure your housing application has been completed. If you have a roommate, get in contact with them so that you all can both be on board with items that are needed/wanted in the resident halls.
-Attend orientation/register for classes. Ger familiar with the campus. Find your classes, and the buildings that your classes will be held in/

TRANSFER STUDENTS:
-Make sure all transcripts from the previous school(s) you have attended have been mailed/faxed in.
-Find an advisor on campus, meet with them and continue to meet with them throughout the year so that you can stay on track.
-Attend transfer orientation/register for classes.
-Any Financial Aid/ Veteran Affairs (funding) make sure that it is completed by the summer. VA information needs to completed in a timely manner before the Fall semester or there can be a delay in your funding.
-Find ways to get involved, reach out to other students or friends that you have on campus. Use your resources.
-Also, establish living arrangements weather it is on campus or off campus. Explore ALL possibilities.

Spring Time at South :)

HELLOOOOOOOO SPRING,

I welcome you with open arms!

It's officially spring time but, the weather in Mobile, Alabama is not agreeing. I have a few spots that I love. I will start off by stating my first one:
My favorite outdoor space is outside on my patio. My rocking chair is sitting off in the shade. I can imagine myself rocking back and forth listening to my beats spill, while the wind blows my hair.

My second favorite place in the spring is at my mom's house under a shade tree. She has a picnic table set up. This is where I can sit outside in the yard and eat as many pounds of craw fish and shrimp that my belly can hold.

     Spring is here.

REMEMBER:

April Showers Bring MAY Flowers :)

HAPPY SPRING!!!!

Volunteer as a JAG!

JAGS CARE!!

I have always been taught that volunteering /giving back to a community is something that is a must as a growing young adult and it also looks good on your resume. As you get older and venture off to the best school SOUTH ALABAMA or a different institution, volunteer opportunists are always available. There are many ways to get involved and connected to different resources:
  • At the beginning of a new semester, each organization is always looking for new recruits, and there will be info on how to sign up.
  • Follow school social media pages that include the link and contact information if you need to get in touch with someone for a particular reason.
  • Get Daily Digest sent to your phone automatically. Daily Digest is an automatic school-wide email address that sends out updated information to the students every day. Examples: volunteer services that are just held at the school, outside volunteer projects, meetings to attending that may be directed to your specific major, and honor clubs and other societies that you may want to join in.
Don't forget to MAKE FRIENDS(Word of mouth can be good or bad; someone may have caught something that you didn't.)

If considering a specific job and you have your volunteer experience listed on your resume, it shows how important giving is to you and how hard you are willing to work without event getting some type of payment for it.

Volunteering/giving back is KEY. Find a organization to join or come up with your own volunteering services.

"JAG Life"

A week in my Jag Life consists of attending my regular scheduled classes, while rushing to get work done, and also dealing with my personal life. I meet new and familiar faces everyday.
My week is always long, but when I hear that USA Day is near the excitement is uncontrollable.
Pictures always are better than words.

A WEEK IN MY SOUTH ALABAMA LIFE GOES A LITTLE LIKE THIS:

"Growing" outside of the classroom . . .

College is a BIG adjustment. Distance, making new friends, and learning how to survive on your own are some of the few adjustments.
Although, sometimes we (college students) think that we have it all figured out, we soon learn that we need reassurance; even about the most simplest things.

College has taught me so much beyond the classroom:
There is no such thing as "MY" way when you enter into this big world.
I have learned to become more in-tune with myself , while learning humbleness.
I have been found to call my mom a little bit more than I would, because her opinion matters within in my life and I know that she wouldn't lead me in the wrong direction.
When trying to find out information, find out for yourself. Word of mouth will hold you back.

You've got to enter college with a GOAL and whether the plans change on getting to the goal, you have to STICK TO THE GOAL. No one said that getting to your dreams would be easy.
I have learned that I am young and there is no reason to be down and out about anything. LIVE RESPONSIBLY.

There are so many ways to get connected/learn about leadership on campus.
The way someone else sees something is not always wrong. The same way you have an opinion about life, jobs, or anything is the same way others have one.
It takes a strong minded, and strong willed person to take on leadership roles.

RESPECT takes you a long way and having an encounter with someone, whether it is good or bad can leave an impression on you. THINK SMART!

Critical Thinking and Involvement is very important.
Thinking outside of the box and being open minded is a great way to meet new people. Critical thinking helps you get invloved more and often helps come up with a great solution.
Involvement in your school setting is also very important. You meet people that can be a major help in the long run; as far as recommendation and etc.

SMILE. LIVE.LAUGH.
