College "Home" Vibes

It took a few weeks to get adjusted to the city of Mobile, AL. There are so many places to visit, restaurants, and etc. You have to get your mind trained to get used to being away from home and getting adjusted to a new city and school.
I moved into my first apartment last semester and here are FIVE tips and things that I did to make my experience at South feel more like home.

1.The first thing I did was decorate my apartment , with all these fuzzy pillows and blankets and put rugs out and etc.
2. I got in contact with some people that are from my home town and people that I had just met and started to plan events that we should attend together.
3. I started planning game night/movie night at my apartment and on Sunday's I would cook dinner and invite my friends over.
4. I always call my mom and ask for her advice on decoration tips or what I could do to make my apartment feel more like back home. There is this certain type of candle my mom uses at home and I love the scent of it. I purchased the candle and placed it in an area inside my home that I could smell it through out.
5. Not so tense. You have to learn to adjust to change. Life is changing everyday, and who knows what tomorrow may bring. You just may wake up in your dream career field, and you will have to ADJUST!

JAGS decorate well.
JAGS get in contact.
Jags Plan.
JAGS love candles.
JAGS ADJUST  !!!

"BLOG"ging my way into 2019:)

Winter break is finally over and the NEW year is here.. HOW EXCITING !!!

To start the new year off on a positive note I am discussing some of the classes I am taking this semester.
This semester I am working towards the completion of my minor which is Sociology.
There are three classes that I am very excited about and they include:
  • Population
  • Social Problems
  • Health Disparities and Life Span
I am excited to learn the interesting facts and view points from different people in the world. I also think that it would be a great life lesson to learn and know the responsibilities including the "why" and "how" of other people and countries which include conflict, diversity, insurance, sexuality, and etc. I never thought about taking those classes, but it is a new year, I am am feeling refreshed, ready to learn more in dept about things that are important and are constantly taking place around us.

  • YAY TO A NEW YEAR
  • YAY TO A NEW MINDSET
  • YAY TO BE A JAG!!!!

Winter Break Plans :)

This has been a long successful school year and I would not want to go back and change it in any way. I have almost lost my mind with the school work, trying to find balance with everything while losing and gaining somethings. I am tired and can't wait to feel stress free for a couple of weeks. Winter break is a exciting time, students finally catch a break after a long semester. It's always a breath of fresh air to go back home and just "chill."
My winter break plans include:

-Going to my hometown and hanging with family, including my siblings that I have not seen in months.
-Spoiling my 1 year old niece.
-Helping my parents in the kitchen.
-Catch up on some TV shows.
-Ready to open Christmas presents, like a little kid all over again.
-And just all around RELAX.

HOLIDAYS are my favorite time of the year :)

FIVE reasons :)

As some of you may know, I am junior here at South and nursing is my major. My BIG plan is to start in the program in the Summer of 2019. Although, not many people in my family have taken on the role of being in the medical field. I have always had a huge heart for helping others.

FIVE reasons why I am interested in becoming a nurse is :

1. You get to collaborate with inter-professional health care teams and consumers in delivering and advocating for safe and effective use of health care resources.

2.  The love I have for the elderly in my family gives me the drive to want to help other families who have elder people in their family.

3. This major is not something so easy, you have to be focused and determined throughout the whole process.

4. There is also an accelerated and traditional program here at South.

5. You get to deliver professional nursing care for diverse populations across the lifespan to optimize health care outcomes.

USA Life!

As a Junior this Fall 2018 semester, I try to prepare, study, and plan everything that needs to be done for the week coming up on that Sunday, as well as rest. A typical week begins at 7:00 A.M. Monday through Friday. I keep a daily planner in my book bag just in case anything changes or needs to be changed throughout the week. Having a 9:00 A.M. forces me to wake up earlier than most, it allows me to get a jump start of my day. I also try to eat breakfast every morning. Eating breakfast can lead to an outstanding day and helps you gain focus of your day. I ride the Jag-Tran to my classes and getting on the bus earlier leads you to getting to class at least five minutes ahead of time. After finishing classes, I like to spend a couple of hours out of the day at the library to review material covered in previous classes, and finish any homework that may need to be finished. Outside of academic life, I typically spend time in the Rec Center working out or hanging out with friends. I usually try to cook once a week, so that I wont spend extra money. Any activities that the school host, I try to attend to get my mind off of anything that has been stressing me or worrying me like school work, personal problems, etc. Then I start the week all over again. I usually try to keep a level head about things and not get so stressed, but that is the typical life style for a college student.

Five Fun Facts About ME!

I am a small girl from an even smaller city. Five fun facts about me would include:

1. I am a country girl, I love outdoors. Mud-riding and attending the race track is my favorite. Being around family and friends while being there is such an excitement. My dad has been racing cars since I was a little girl. He named his car "ZILLA" and that has been the name every since. After all, who wouldn't love a good county girl?

2. I am a very motivating, happy, laughing, and positive person. I try to give the people in my corner the best advice of my knowledge based upon the things that I know or have been through. I NEVER like to see myself down or anyone else. I have a warm small that will brighten the whole town. I try to not let things get me down, and if there is something wrong I do not let others see it. I consider myself a very strong and brave person. Things that were meant to tear me down were only meant for my good and help me become the young adult I am today.

3. I have 2 other siblings, with me being the middle child. My oldest sister is 25 years old. She attends The University of Auburn in Montgomery where she is obtaining her Master's Degree in OT. I also have a little brother who is 18 years old who attends The University of Southern Mississippi with a major in Constructive Engineering; and here I am, a nursing major here at South. I love them so much, I talk to both of them at least two-three times a day. It is such a joy having siblings.

4. I learned about USA from former friends who attended South. Every chance they had, they constantly reminded me of how I would be a good fit and how I would love it so much. I can say it is totally different from a community college. Change is constantly going on around me and I have to adjust. So far, they have not been wrong. I absolutely love being on this campus. GO JAGS!!

5. I am from a small town by the name of Jackson, Alabama. I rarely go home because I am always so busy here, but I love my hometown and of course most of the people that live there. It is a family town and also special in its own unique way. We have have/had many prosperous people from the little town. Home is where the heart is no matter how far or near you travel from it.

My First Visit to South Alabama

My very first visit to South Alabama went a little something like this:

I knew I would be graduating from a community college soon and I needed to have the next best plan for myself. I had a friend that was already a student here at South that told me to schedule a visit to see if I could get a feel for it or not. She had already bribed me about the Nursing department advances and new technology. All of her many accomplishments pushed me to visit. I scheduled a tour with one of my friends who formerly attended South.

I was excited, and just amazed at how well kept the campus was. At first, I thought the campus was huge and I thought to myself, "how am I going to make it around everyday on this big campus," just to find out that they offered jag trans to take you to different locations on campus.

I toured and just started falling in love bit by bit. The final stop was the Rec Center on campus and it had me sold. I wanted to attend South Alabama with other various reasons such as how peaceful it felt, they offered my major which was Nursing with all of their greatest technology to help you become the best nurse, and I would not be too far from home.

Here I am a few months later, starting my first transfer year here at South and I absolutely love it.

Always remember to stay encouraged, and always have a back up plan. Tour different schools to get the feel of each of them and do not go off "word of mouth," because your feelings are totally different from others and what they might have interest in may not be your taste. Also, be willing to put in the work, while staying dedicated and focused. If at first you think you may need assistance with school work, advice, etc, seek help. There is help everywhere on campus.

Come join us and get a feel of The University of South Alabama for yourself.

As always, GO JAGSSSSSS!!

GROWTH :)

I have learned a lot about myself since becoming a Jag. I have learned my strengths and my weakness. There are at least 3 main things that I...
